Battery/Power Issues
Problem: When I try to turn on my voice recorder the LCD displays “hold” then flashes “P-OFF” and turns off.
Solution:
- The recorder will not turn on in “HOLD” mode
- Push the “HOLD” switch on the back of the recorder to the left
- Push the record button to turn the recorder on

Problem: Voice recorder will not turn on.

- The batteries are not inserted correctly
- Insert the batteries according to the picture on the back of the recorder

Recording Issues
Problem: I’ve selected VOR recording, but the recorder does not record.
Solution:
- After you select VOR recording from the menu (pg. 17) you must still turn the recorder on.
- (9016/9033) You should see “VOR” in the lower left corner of the LCD
- From the file menu, press the record button
- The red record light will come on
- A new file will be created with the record time increasing from “ 00:00:00”
- When the recorder is in “standby” mode, the record time will stop increasing and “VOR” and the record time will blink.
- When a sound is detected the display stops blinking and the record time will begin increasing again until no sound is detected (please note there is a short delay before the recorder begins recording again)
- To stop recording press the record button again.

Playback Issues
Problem: When I playback a recording, I can’t hear anything
Solution:
- Turn the volume of the recorder up
- Push the “+” button on your recorder until you can hear your recording

DC Power Issues
Problem: When I connect the voice recorder to the power adapter it does not function, it only says “ready”
Solution:
- Change the connection mode from “USb” to “dc”
- Disconnect the recorder from the power adapter
- Put batteries in the recorder
- Click the menu button 7 times
- Use the jog dial to select “dc”
- Press the record button once to exit from the menu
- Remove the batteries from the recorder
- Reconnect the recorder to the power adapter

PC Connection and Download Issues
Problem: My PC no longer recognizes my voice recorder when connected to the USB (I successfully connected to my PC before)
Symptoms:
- The computer says "USB device not recognized"
- The LCD on the recorder says "ready" (not "usb")
Solution:
- Disconnect the voice recorder from the computer
- Take the batteries out of the recorder
- Restart the computer
- Plug the recorder back in to the computer (without the batteries)
- The computer should recognize the voice recorder again
- Note: next time you connect the recorder to the computer you do not need to remove the batteries

Problem: My PC does not detect that the voice recorder is connected to the USB port.
Symptoms:
- Your PC does not detect a new usb device attached to the computer
Solution1:
- Turn the recorder on
- If the LCD display is blank, press the record button once
Solution2:
- Change the connection mode from “dc” to “USb”
- Disconnect the recorder from the computer
- Turn on the recorder
- Click the menu button 7 times
- Use the jog dial to select “USb”
- Reconnect the recorder to the computer

Problem: When I connect my recorder to my PC, it says “unknown USB device”.

Problem: When I try to use my voice recorder, I get an error message (Ex. “er-200”)
Solution:
